As it turns out, one of those semi-secret spots has been hiding right under the noses of millions of tourists — beneath the Trevi Fountain, to be exact. Federica, the local tour guide behind the Instagram account @livevirtualguide, surprised her followers in 2021 with a video showing the little-known Roman attraction that takes visitors to the area underneath the Trevi Fountain....

A cat hiding as a stowaway in someone’s checked luggage until it was (thankfully) discovered by Transportation Security Administration agents and rescued. The orange cat was discovered hiding in a checked suitcase on Nov. 16 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, having climbed in without the owner’s knowledge, TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein confirmed to Travel + Leisure. The cat was found after it went through the X-ray machine inside the bag along with what appears to be several bottles and a wine glass....

If you’ve never taken an Alaskan cruise before, 2024 might just be the year to do it. Soon-to-launch luxury cruise line Explora Journeys just announced a series of Alaska sailings in 2024, and they’re pretty spectacular. From May through August 2024, Explora Journeys will offer three Alaska itineraries aboard the Explora I: Remote Wrangell and Spectacular Sitka, Sailing the Whale’s Highway, and Journey of the Glaciers. Each of the three itineraries will depart from Vancouver for a 10- or 11-night trip....

United Airlines and ​​Air Canada are making connecting between the United States and Canada even easier by expanding their codeshare agreement. The airlines, which are both part of Star Alliance, will now allow customers to connect to 38 different codeshare destinations in the U.S. plus an additional eight in Canada, according to United. Customers will now see more flights scheduled “at more convenient times.” The partnership will include flights to some of the most popular destinations in Canada....

The airline industry is in for a turbulent future unless big changes are made, United Airlines’ CEO conceded this week. To avoid mass cancellations and a domino effect, CEO Scott Kirby told CNN the industry must run with more back-up planes and back-up staff in place.
