Landrace is local. It’s not only the name, but also the concept upon which the newest restaurant from chef Steve McHugh, a James Beard Awards finalist, is built. Landrace “means a traditional variety of species, be that plant or animal. Landraces can be heritage, heirloom, and/or native, but they can also refer to something that has adapted extremely well to its environment. So, for example, if you look at Angus or Wagyu cattle in Texas, the cattle aren’t necessarily from Texas, but they do extremely well here....

We have a strong feeling that love was definitely in the air last night. Why, you ask? Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck aren’t done celebrating their wedding. After marrying in Las Vegas in July, they are heading to Georgia for a three-day extravaganza with family and friends. Calling it an “intimate celebration for family and friends,” a Page Six source outlined that the event will kick-off with a rehearsal dinner on Friday, the ceremony on Saturday, and a barbecue on Sunday. Kaavia James continues to very adorably live up to her nickname #ShadyBaby. The 3-year-old attended a friend’s birthday party and kept herself cool and composed during the festivities, which included a pony ride, petting zoo and cotton candy galore. Kaavia concluded the big day by taking a nice nap in the back of the car, stuffed bear in tow. Her mom, Gabrielle Union, was also on hand for the fun and got in on all the cotton candy action....

During Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, King Charles III made a touching tribute to his late mother while fully embracing his new role as reigning monarch. The new King designed a floral wreath for his mother’s funeral casket, which was thoughtfully comprised of the same types of flowers from Queen Elizabeth’s wedding to Prince Philip. New York is cracking down on exorbitant airport food and alcohol prices after reports of $27 beers went viral on social media. Going forward, all concession prices cannot exceed more than 10% of “local, off-airport ‘street prices,’” according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The new policy will also require airports to sell “lower-priced food and beverage options to provide a wider range of value for customers....

An all-electric passenger plane took flight for the first time this week, making history in the effort to make zero-emissions planes a commercial reality. The Alice aircraft, which is manufactured by Eviation Aircraft, took off on Sept. 27 from Grant County International Airport in Washington and flew for 8 minutes, according to the company. The flight reached an altitude of 3,500 feet. The planes, which can be used for cargo or people, can hold up to nine passengers and two crew members at a time and operate at up to 260 knots....
