Call it social distancing, quarantine, or self-isolation — one way or another, we’re about to be spending a lot more time at home. Luckily, it seems we’ve already figured out how to fill that time: by watching the 2011 global pandemic film Contagion, which is currently being streamed by an unprecedented number of viewers worldwide. Does it seem like a smart idea, in a time when we’re trying to quell the growing panic and stick to the facts? Not really! But I watched it this weekend, and it was awesome. Here’s how to stream Contagion — if you dare.

For those of you who don’t know what you’re getting into, Contagion is a Steven Soderbergh thriller starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, and Kate Winslet. When a lethal virus spreads across the globe, defying explanation, the CDC and WHO scramble to find a vaccine. It’s a great, edge-of-your-seat movie that’s surprisingly realistic about how viral infections (and mass panic) tend to spread. Of course, it’s also not the best to watch right now if you’re already feeling anxious about the state of the world.

Can’t get enough of the viral fun? Check out these other pandemic movies in the work-from-home weeks ahead.
