Harvey’s adventures go deep into this arresting region. On a recent Argentina trip, travelers went horseback riding on the cliffs of the Uco Valley and kayaking under the Perito Moreno Glacier. Past trips have included rappelling on Cerro López in Patagonia, a helicopter tour of Argentina’s Darwin Ridge, and a penguin-spotting adventure on Isla Martillo, off the coast of Ushuaia, Argentina.
His secret? Working with guides born in the area. Harvey himself first moved to the region as a high school student studying abroad, and never looked back.
This year, he’s excited about the Salta Province of Argentina. “Salta is an incredible small city, and te surrounds offer llama trekking that combines unimagined scenery and unique cultural experiences,” he says. He also mentions Cafayate, which is producing top wines and has “great authentic lodging like House of Jasmines,” and the villages of Purmamarca and Jujuy, with access to hikes like the Seven Colors Hill.
